Heute im #Industriemuseum #Chemnitz einen #Robotron A 5120 gesehen. Man beachte die drei 5,25"-Floppydrives, das kompakte Design und die Handballenauflage aus Lederimitatimitat.

История ремонта этой пишущей машинки тянется уже 8 лет! Шутка что-ли — это Самый Первый Артефакт моего youtube-канала ! Robotron S6130 — многофункциональная пишущая машинка формата A2 на базе процессора Z80, с функцией запоминания набранных текстов во встроенной оперативной памяти, с записью и воспроизведением на магнитофон, а также возможностью приема и передачи текстов с ЭВМ по последовательному порту! Однако перед тем как появиться у меня, агрегат порядка четырех лет пролежал в сыром, заброшенном помещении на горе заплесневевших книг. За это время питающая ОЗУ резервная батарейка протекла и пожрала дорожки на материнской плате. Коррозией покрылись и ноги ближайших микросхем, ОЗУ. Разумеется, на первом обзорном видео машинка не подала признаков жизни и я увез ее в гараж на длительное хранение. Да начнется оживление

A little known part of computer history: The East German computer Robotron PC1715, the workhorse of East German IT landscape, was extensivly used in Chernobyl, for instance the radioactivity monitoring system after the accident of 1986. Likely it was because this computers was used in an ominous research facility nearby the power plant before the accident and it was quickly available, including the interfaces and sensors. To this day it's unclear what this facility was doing and there are still some unexplained artifacts in the basement, like the "grey sand". There are debates in Reddit for years what it actually was, but no explaination makes really sense, yet.

The Robotron A 5120 is an office computer from East Germany. A clone of the CP/M operating system (SCP) runs on a Z80 clone processor (U880) with 16-64 KB of memory, and the storage medium was initially 8'' floppy disks, later also 5.25'' as in our specimen. #retrocomputing #gdr #robotron

Die #Zeit hat an diesen Gebäude, des ehemaligen VEB #robotron #Buchungsmaschinenwerk #Karl-Marx-Stadt schon 2005, genagt . Und so tut es weiter . Das Gebäude befindet sich auf der Annaberger Straße 79 . Zumindest war das mal die alte Adresse .

To restore the Robotron K1840 (VAX11/780), the PDP11/03 must first be running in the correct configuration. For this I am looking for a working CPU card like this one.

Finally got my Switch Pro controller mapped in Batocera. Running it on a Pi 5 seems to have fixed the niggles. Ten sticks make Robotron so much easier, still hard tho

Oh and I realise also now that you’re supposed to save the human beans…
