Well, this is strange. Somebody just emailed me saying that they had found an old Chinese book and were wondering if it was valuable. The title is 網俠, or "Knight of the Nets", which I'd never heard of and can find no information on.

The thing is, it's not really text. The pages are filled with random characters in what looks like a square grid, but most of the squares are blank. Sometimes there are short sentences at the top of the page, often in the second person, like they're addressing the reader.

The scan I was sent is a bit hard to make out, so I copied some of the grid on paper. As best as I can tell, the accompanying sentence here says something like "you [honorific] hear the sound of water falling on coins of gold".

There is no information about the author, the publisher, or the year of publication, only a date of some sort on the first page: the first day of the fourth month.

Any ideas?

Voxel-style cover for a book I never wrote. 🙂

My one-man company name used to be Seven's Heaven.

@kinmoku I'm glad that I'm not the only one who feels icky about all those April Fools' Day gaming things being visual novels.

I can definitely see the reason they do it. After all VNs are super cheap to make and don't take any serious development resources away from their major projects. They're at most taking artists and writers half a week each, no programmers required.

Can you solve today’s Daily DINGBATS puzzle? Check back tomorrow for the answer!

In 1980, cartoonist Paul Sellers created DINGBATS as a newspaper feature that continues today. Since then, millions of board games, travel games and books have been sold, called DINGBATS®, WHATZIT?™ in North America, KATCH-ITS™ in Australia, ¿QUE ES?™ in Spain, WAS IS’ ES?™ in Germany.

Yesterday’s answer was… “MAKE A SONG AND DANCE ABOUT IT”.

⭐ It's possible to address traumatizing topics without creating #trauma in the process.

🔁 Our free game ADRIFT is an example of that. The game is about #consent but is appropriate for all ages. It's a quick game so you can replay it if you don't get each scenario correct on the first try.

🖼️ It was even re-created for the MOD. museum in Australia.

💜 April is #SAAM.
