#HughLaurie is one of my most favourite actors of all time, it's unfortunate I almost never see him in any piece of media I watch other than where I first learned of him, #HouseMD. I always find the same (British) actors in a lot of content surrounding British people/culture, but never him... That man is a living legend to my eyes, so idk why that's the case other than him refusing a lot of acting offers, or I'm just not watching the right shows where he'd be interested in acting in.
Some months ago i discovered that all #Spooks series are available on #SBSOnDemand. A few nights ago i began streaming it, my first time since it was broadcast in Straya in the early Oughties. OMZ!
- the violence is still extremely confronting
- it's very challenging to rewatch it now, aware of how badly the world has gone even further down the toilet in the intervening decades
- those two negatives noted, it feels simply delightful to reacquaint myself with much loved characters from way back when
- one such appeared in two S1 eps, & at his initial appearance we heard him before we saw him. At the very first strains of his distinctive voice i sat bolt upright, giggled & clapped like a loony, then more so once his face was revealed. I just adore the exceedingly accomplished #HughLaurie.
- another such has just made her debut now, early in S2 E2, & again i giggled & clapped. She entered the meeting room in the most #Ruthie way possible; late, flustered, holding far too many files & papers pressed to her chest which she predictably dropped clumsily, & already manifesting that wonderful distinctive half-smile nervous disposition & inappropriately exuberant demeanour. Welcome oh truly magnificent [young!] #RuthEvershed (#NicolaWalker)
