This is the oddest #KeyboardLayout I've seen in quite a while: https://www.cnx-software.com/2025/01/20/bandit-pc32-standalone-colorforth-keyboard-computer-is-powered-by-the-raspberry-pi-rp2350-microcontroller/

And yes, the #OrtholinearKeyboard of that small #handheld computer seems to be a #MechanicalKeyboard, they say it has #Kailh Brown switches, seemingly MX compatible.

Moving around the O and especially the P and L key reminds me of the #keyboard layout of the #Enigma, also because I also already was experimenting with such layouts: https://github.com/xtaran/XTK/blob/master/Painigma27.md

with "Gr" being a shift stick schemata like symbol probably switching to some graphics mode. All keys are 1u wide and aligned at the center screen except the bottom row which seems to have been moved a tiny bit outwards.

Some basic but interesting differences between #PocketPC #WindowsMobile devices.

This shows how the #Dell Axim has different image icons compared to the #iPaq.

More info is in the image description of each one.

The Dell Axim X50V is running Windows Mobile 4 also known as 2003 Second Edition.

The VGA screen is beautiful but unfortunately the image icons don't really help to tell the user what the file is without having them named the way that I do.

Jpeg appears to show an Amiga boing ball and PNG, BMP and Gif are all represented by the same icon of colored shapes.

The Dell Axim X51V is running Windows Mobile 5. A big OS upgrade over WM 4.0.

The VGA screen is once again beautiful but unfortunately not much has changed.

It appears the Amiga boing ball has been replaced with someone surfing or perhaps a sail boat but for images other than jpeg, they are all represented by the same icon of shapes.

The iPaq HX2795b is similar to the Axim X51V in that they both run Windows Mobile 5.0. The iPaq does not have a VGA screen however.

Looking at the image icons we can see a huge improvement over the Dell Axim.

Every image type is represented by a uniquely descriptive icon. BMP = Blue, GIF = Green, PNG = Purple and JPEG = Red.

I wish the Axim had these icons...

Last but not least is the iPaq 210. This one is running Windows Mobile 6.0 and has a beautiful VGA screen.

It also retains the icons of the previous iPaq.

Every image type is represented by a uniquely descriptive icon. BMP = Blue, GIF = Green, PNG = Purple and JPEG = Red.

I wonder if this was a change unique to the iPaqs?
