Kate Knibbs of Wired reported today that cuts at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have decimated the teams that inspect plant and food imports, creating risks from invasive pests and leaving food to rot as it waits for inspection.

“I’ve been on the bench for over four decades, I can’t remember another case where the question presented is as clear as this one is. This is a #blatantly #unconstitutional order… I have difficulty understanding how a member of the bar could state unequivocally that this is a constitutional order. It just boggles my mind.”

It has been found that breaches have been occurring in some parts of the Dominion, and this has led to the reorganisation of the system of sea #fisheries inspection and the appointment of more #inspectors. Certain limits are prescribed within which #trawling may be carried out, and the fresh appointments have been made with the view to more efficiently safeguarding the interests of sea fisheries generally.
