Following on from my post about hooking several repeaters up to one antenna - I've ordered a bunch of 400-470MHz RF isolators from China for £30 a pop (not awful) and some 100-ohm resistors.
My game plan is to turn some of the scrap PCB laminate in my garage into Wilkinson dividers.
After that, I "just" need to find an LNA and a 50-ohm splitter (1:2 or 1:4) or multicoupler and cable it all up.

What is a good antenna dual band (2m/7cm) for living in a hole on a rental property where I can't install anything permanent? I don't have an unlimited budget, but a couple hundred's not out of the question. Even if I need to learn to make something myself as long a simpleton like myself can do it. I don't have a soldering iron, yet, so if that's a requirement, that's a part of the budget.

@kd8lci That's all you need. FRN and ULS are different databases (and were long before the cheeto was let loose) so one doesn't actually affect the other. Part 97 requires you to be up to date in ULS ... which you wlll be once the VEC processes your paperwork. But you DO need to use your existing FRN. And then, after the test is over and you have unclenched, you can fix it in CORES. You know, assuming CORES or anything else survives the week. 😃

We're really in a golden age of radios. I do not have one of the kits at the site below, but people seem to love them. They are #QRP (5 W or less) but are amazingly capable.

And the guy that makes these radios is not the only guy (or company) out there making this sort of stuff. Really remarkable. When I got in in 1991, #Heathkit was dead as far as amateur stuff & Ramsay was the only other thing out there.

I helped out with a class or two before QSYing back to VE (the country!) and did this page. The magic circles for Ohm's Law and the power one are here but the link at the bottom has "all the stuff we couldn't cover in class". Most of that started out on my own website (from an even earlier class I helped with) so I should rejigger it and put it back on my own site. Anyway, have fun.
