"We're Off to See the Wizard" is one of the classic songs from the #AcademyAward-winning 1939 film #TheWizardOfOz. Composer #HaroldArlen described it, along with "#TheMerryOldLandOfOz" and "#DingDongTheWitchIsDead", as one of the "lemon drop" songs of the film. The lyrics are by #EYYipHarburg. The melody's first appearance begins with the #Munchkins reciting and #JudyGarland echoing "Follow the #YellowBrickRoad".

If you'd like a fun movie suggestion for remembering David (outside of his own work of course) I highly recommend **Lynch Oz**, a documentary where 6 other film makers discuss Lynch and his love for The Wizard of Oz.

I just saw Wicked, and with movie merch from it filling up store shelves, it makes for a fascinating contrast. On the one hand, a soulless simulacra of a classic story, repurposing it's sets and characters like action figures for a story that feels like playing with action figures is how it was story boarded.

On the other hand, a loving look into an ouvre of work that sees into the heart and soul of why a fairy tale like the Wizard of Oz works and how a true genius captures that magick in other forms, across other genres.
