Samsung starts working on the Galaxy Watch8 series

While a new update for all existing smartwatches is in the works, Samsung has recently started development of the One UI Watch software for the upcoming smartwatch series, which is a Galaxy Watch8 series, which will be unveiled in an upcoming Unpacked event this year. A tipster on X has mentioned that there were new smartwatches that were added to the firmware server, along with our addition of the SM-L500 model:

  • SM-L320: L320XXU0AYC4/L320OXM0AYC4/
  • SM-L330: L330XXU0AYC4/L330OXM0AYC4/
  • SM-L500: L500XXU0AYC4/L500OXM0AYC4/
  • SM-L325U: L325USQU0AYC6/L325UOYM0AYC6/L325USQU0AYC6
  • SM-L335U: L335USQU0AYC6/L335UOYM0AYC6/L335USQU0AYC6
  • SM-L505U: L505USQU0AYC6/L505UOYM0AYC6/L505USQU0AYC6

This is an interesting update, as we now know that there are three new smartwatches on the works, with two variants: Bluetooth variant and cellular variant. As more information about the new watches, as well as the beta program for the next One UI Watch that may start in the second half of this year, we’ll let you know.

Tip of the day: you can enable #GalaxyWatch6 standalone (kind of) for a kid without an additional phone line.

Result: $7/mo instead of $45/mo total, and one very happy kiddo on #tmobile!

Our case: we moved from a crappy #Gabb watch and $15/mo plan to a fully awesome #GalaxyWatch (better charging, battery life, capabilities) for only $7/mo.

What you need:
* a Galaxy Watch (used, open box, or new)
* an old phone to be the paired device (make sure it can take one of your active Sim cards)
* ability to follow directions
* a bit of patience

Overall:
1. Reset old phone to factory default, set up using kids account (we use Google Family Link so a lot of parent approvals were needed)
2. Set up Galaxy Watch and pair to phone
3. Call/chat with provider to enable standalone wearable device (ask for eSim QR code at end)
4. Swap your sim, enable eSim Test Mode in Galaxy Wearable app, scan QR code, enable plan in app and on device.
