Few comments ahead of a possible appearance in the show in the future:

1) indeed, we are in concept phase. Join us here, on matrix at #eu-os:kde.org or at gitlab.com/eu-os/eu-os.gitlab. if you like to contribute.

2) @opensuse is well known, but it's atomic @kalpa does not have the layering support and tooling like @fedora or @almalinux

3) On the US: it's not so black/white.

Reboost ♻️ plz: #Throwback to 2018 – @hsc55 interviews the Commission in his film kolektiva.media/videos/watch/c:

Q: Why has the Commission abandoned their policy from 2013 to free the EU institutions and member states from the dependence on a few American software companies?

Commissioner for Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip: "I don't think we have abandoned this policy. The only solution is to invest more, to catch up."

The Microsoft-Dilemma - Europe as a Software Colony

(also in 🇩🇪: kolektiva.media/w/xjKF12aLsDVS)

"Many state and public administrations from Helsinki to Lisbon operate with the software of the US corporation. It makes them vulnerable for hackers and spies, violates European public procurement law, blocks technical progress and costs Europe dearly"

2/2 "The transition [to #Linux] went unexpectedly smooth. Almost no additional training was required for the local police forces using the computers in their daily work. […] The #Ubuntu user interface was easy to get used to. Pascal Danek points out that a transition from Microsoft Windows 2000/XP to Vista would have been more difficult, since the new version of that [OS] introduces many new features and designs which might confuse users."

🧵 #Throwback to 2009

"Moving from Microsoft XP to Vista would not have brought us many advantages and Microsoft said it would require training of users," said Lt. Col. Guimard. "Moving from XP to #Ubuntu, however, proved very easy. The two biggest differences are the icons and the games. Games are not our priority."
