I do of course work for the #NHS and am aware of some of the shortcomings of the service in general, but last night from the perspective of a patient, I saw a prime example of why the NHS is on its arse financially.
At the walk-in, they attached #ECG stickers and put a bag of saline up.
15mins after the drip starts, Ambulance arrives. (2hrs after being called). Paramedics want to do another ECG. Their system won’t allow the ECG from the walk-in, they need to use their own machine. Do the ECG stickers work with their machine? No they do not. So a second set goes on. Then they want to take me hospital, but can’t use the bag that’s already up because “we’re not allowed”. So an almost full bag of saline goes into the bin, and they start a new one from the Ambulance.
Get to hospital. They need to do another ECG. Do the Amb stickers work with A&E ECG machine? No they do not. So a third set gets put on.
That’s two sets of ECG stickers and one bag of saline wasted. Why??
