Under the guiding question ‘How do we fight against patriarchal violence that refugees face on their journey and in the camp system ?’ we want to come together on O-Platz and discuss how patriarchal violence manifests itself during the flight and in camps and how we can defend ourselves against it.
The situation of refugee women and LGBTI+ is catastrophic they are put into camps at the external borders where there are not enough hygiene products and hardly any privacy, they are put into camps in Germany where security forces sexually harass and rape them as Tegel and Nuremberg show us.
They are forced to flee by wars and weapons from imperialist states, by ecological destruction and by domestic violence.
But they are also fighting back, as the O-Platz movement impressively shows. Many women were in the front rows fighting for freedom of movement against camps and deportation. Tegel shows us impressively where women organised themselves against the patriarchal violence they experienced.
