@raccoon I mean, people usually pick #DLC as acronym for #microtransaction-centric #cosmetics and not for means of #Distribution, because as per #ToS of #Steam, all #Games there are legally DLC...

  • I see #AddOns and #Expansions in a different category even if they are distributed conveniently as download content!

In that specific context I differenciate these as the latter two actually had time, effort and actual creativity invested beyond just creating another texture or sth.

I keep seeing articles/posts telling me that battle passes in games are fine as its all optional and cosmetic.

To those people I just want to let you know there was a time before games had micro transactions and battle passes. The same content existed for us back then, but it was all built into the game, and you had to unlock it by playing the game and achieving cool feats.

Why would anyone prefer to pay for this stuff? Do you even enjoy playing the game?
