1991 #PSV club in #hulme #manchester I used to go to a night called Fun House which was absolute chaos. They would play this at the end of the night and everyone would be hugging and crying LOL. goodness me, 33 years ago. Hahaha.

I used to go #raving at the #PSV in #hulme #manchester in Summer 1991. What was amazing (apart from the music and the crowd) was that at the time it didn't occur to me that we were all about 20 or thereabouts. The whole event - the promotion, the DJs, the lights, the P.A. and the crew were no older than about 23 - and we were doing our own thing in our own way. There were no adults telling us what to do. Amazing times.

The Jeff Noon book Vurt was essentially born from Hulme which he renamed Bottletown. I was a middleclass white student in manchester 89-91 and Hulme was somewhere I would go to score sticky black. Thankfully I was never in a dangerous situation but at that time Hulme was lawless and sometimes frightening. I spent most time there at the end of its life, partying in and on the crescents after a night of techno at the PSV whilst the police watched from a nearby van. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/sep/27/it-was-like-blade-runner-meets-berlin-rave-the-manchester-sink-estate-with-the-uks-wildest-nightclub #hulme
