I stumbled across this discussion of the Women's Prize Longlist. And discovered the concept that a book club could be happening online. Call me stupid, I clearly deserve it, but this concept had not previously occurred to me. Now thinking about it. A lot. youtu.be/lZx10NoMUQg?si=AqV1v9

Good timing! The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff is a Kindle Daily Deal in the UK today. I'm looking forward to reading it as I haven't heard that much about it in discussions of the Women's Prize list yet, even though the premise is so interesting. A woman is believed to have killed her absent husband and finds that this reputation is useful...until other women start asking for her help

I haven't heard great things about it, but I couldn't resist picking it up. It has an interesting origin story - possibly more interesting than the book itself will be? Time will tell

There are a lot of books drawn from personal experiences on the #womensprizeforfiction longlist this year. Memphis and Wandering Souls were also interesting to read together. Both authors have a family story that needed to be told, and chose to tell them in very different ways.

Personally, I loved Wandering Souls. I wish there had been 100 more pages of it as it gripped me in the final part.

Reading books from a prize list is a weird thing, because you're drawing parallels between books that were never intended to be compared.

Having said that, reading I'm a Fan and Trespasses close together was really interesting to me. Different times, different contexts, but I felt like the women at the heart of the book not only did similar things but felt and expressed similar things
