#SurfinBird von 1964 war eigentlich das einzige von den insgesamt fünf Studioalben, das den #thetrashmen Erfolg, aber auch Ärger bescherten.
Über Umwege plagiierten sie mit der gleichnamigen Single scheinbar unwissentlich den Song "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" von den Rivingtons. Der Trashmen-Song war zwar etwas schneller. Trotz dem er einen noch simpleren Text als das Original hatte, nämlich Variationen des Satzes "The Bird Is The Word", landete er auf Nr. 4 der US Charts.
"Surfin' Bird" is a song performed by American #surfRock band #theTrashmen, containing the repetitive lyric "the bird is the word". It has been covered many times. It is a combination of two #RAndB hits by #theRivingtons: "#PapaOomMowMow" and "The Bird's the Word". The song was released as a single in 1963 and reached No. 4 on the #Billboard Hot 100. The Trashmen also recorded an album named after the track, released two months later.
