The shrine is located on the edge of a steep hill, space in front of it is scarce, so this was shot with a wide angle lens pointed slightly upwards. So it misses the bottom section and makes the arched roof look bigger than in reality. It's a medium-sized shrine built with wood timber-framed. The frames are red, the cages l canvases white.

I took this picture over a big fence shielding off the construction site in the foreground. It's more of a hole at this point with its greatest feature, a big crane on the left, so big it didn't fit entirely into the picture. Where the site ends comes a sizable jump in elevation laying bare the foundations of the buildings on higher ground. There are larger buildings to the left and to the right dwarfing at the center the old temple, right on the edge. Because the angle is up there is lots of sightly overcast sky in the shot with the sun shining in my direction. It creates interesting light.

Picture taken from atop a pedestrian bridge going over this major road that is lined with office buildings, then goes under the railway bridge just next to Shinjuku station and then beyond on Yasukuni-dori (road). It's afternoon on an overcast day, traffic is surprisingly light, and I've naturally waited for a train to be crossing the bridge. In the background especially are buildings with lit up ads and such.

There are plenty of white markings on the road including one for a bus stop. Through the opening of the bridge we can see a bit of the shopping street that extends from the bridge.

The undersides of the roofs are in a similar color. At the top is a turquoise spire giving it some mohre height. It stands against the backdrop of a 1980s apartment block tiled in orange and a blue sky with a wisp of clouds.
