Academic papers due at 4pm are criminal and shouldn’t be allowed.

At least the 45 pages of academic writing I have due in 14 days has reduced by 15 pages. *whew*

Now for:
- my final exam tomorrow *oof*
- 15 page paper due Mon

I'm also seeing reports that Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UMass has rescinded ALL offers of admission for Fall 2025. Lack of federal funding & lack of stable opportunities for dissertation research are cited as causes.

Scholarship app for my master's funding asked about future doctoral research. My (sleep-deprived, partially BS) answer? "Focused on the impact of geopolitical uncertainty on organizational and diversity management within multinational corporations."

It was hot today—almost 37 degrees! Definitely felt it while out and about. Had lunch at one of my favorite spots, then checked out some op shops for a handbag, but they were all too small.

Had to make a vet appointment for Meesa’s vaccinations next week and double-check her microchip since one of the companies storing that data shut down. Thankfully, we’re not affected.

Also looked over some of my uni course material in preparation for next week when it officially starts. Picked up lamb, chicken, potato salad, and Greek salad for dinner for the next two nights. Now I’m exhausted and ready to relax.

I was sick for 4-5 days starting 2 weeks ago and let me tell you, there is no less opportune time to get sick during a semester than during the first few weeks. I have been swimming upstream through a fire hose of boot camps, lessons, videos, assignments, assessments, etc.

This weekend will probably suck but I should be able to catch up. Luckily (Unfortunately?) it coincides with the end of #Drynuary & the beginning of #Februmary.

My records management textbook (2018) keeps offhandedly reference the blockchain as an emerging technology of interest for the field.

I'm deeply confused why it thinks a technology that is necessarily public, distributed, and immutable would be attractive to people whose jobs largely involve managing sensitive information and ensuring that most of it eventually gets discarded

The “brief history of the field” chapter at the start of my records management textbook is really reminding me that historians really do have expertise. What if I told you that condensing a timeline into prose wasn’t the same as writing history?
