Academic papers due at 4pm are criminal and shouldn’t be allowed.

At least the 45 pages of academic writing I have due in 14 days has reduced by 15 pages. *whew*

Now for:
- my final exam tomorrow *oof*
- 15 page paper due Mon
- and a 60min presentation along with my last 15 page paper due the following Monday.

It was hot today—almost 37 degrees! Definitely felt it while out and about. Had lunch at one of my favorite spots, then checked out some op shops for a handbag, but they were all too small.

Had to make a vet appointment for Meesa’s vaccinations next week and double-check her microchip since one of the companies storing that data shut down. Thankfully, we’re not affected.

Also looked over some of my uni course material in preparation for next week when it officially starts. Picked up lamb, chicken, potato salad, and Greek salad for dinner for the next two nights. Now I’m exhausted and ready to relax.

I was sick for 4-5 days starting 2 weeks ago and let me tell you, there is no less opportune time to get sick during a semester than during the first few weeks. I have been swimming upstream through a fire hose of boot camps, lessons, videos, assignments, assessments, etc.

This weekend will probably suck but I should be able to catch up. Luckily (Unfortunately?) it coincides with the end of #Drynuary & the beginning of #Februmary.

My records management textbook (2018) keeps offhandedly reference the blockchain as an emerging technology of interest for the field.

I'm deeply confused why it thinks a technology that is necessarily public, distributed, and immutable would be attractive to people whose jobs largely involve managing sensitive information and ensuring that most of it eventually gets discarded 🙄

Oy, reading any LIS literature describing emerging technology is so painful.

"Video files (vodcasts) can be used to create a diary, journal, or blog. Twitch …recommends using vodcasts to entertain followers while interacting using chat. Vodcasts can be created to share knowledge, document meetings, and more."

Torn between "Hello fellow kids" and "Stop trying to make 'vodcast' happen"

"By 2004, Facebook was founded, followed by YouTube one year later; it became easy to publish content on these websites. The authoritarian, closed, passive, static, one-way communications medium offered by early webmasters became democratic, collaborative, active, dynamic, and interactive."

1) I hate that this makes it sound as though these services had sprung into existence in their modern forms, and

2) Wow, that second sentence has NOT held up
