It's a common mistake. I've even seen some very keen-eyed editors make it.
Just remember: When the O's are in the opposite order, you get the short sound, like the "oo" in "good" or "book."

Every time I go past this drive-thru window at a local Burger King, it just strikes me as funny. It doesn't say, "Continue to other window," or "Please pay at next window," or anything like that.
It just says, "The other window."
But if this is "the other window," then shouldn't I have driven past a *first* window earlier? (There is no earlier window.)
My editorial OCD is so set off by this.
I would love to take some notes on this manuscript. But Percy says no. So I'll just be here waiting for her approval to get work done.
