So…what happens to NIOSH standards?
@thatkatharine Probably nothing to the standard or already approved items. OTOH, it's entirely possible that approving new items will become much more difficult (if it's possible at all), and recertification and enforcement may also run into serious issues.
It's mostly a standard for industrial equipment, so my guess is it wont' be messed with much.
@thatkatharine in the spirit of the Victorian era, I'll be surprised if communicable diseases are ever mentioned again. They will be dismissed as simply too distressing for people to be bothered with and an inappropriate conversation topic. NIOSH standards, let alone any gentle reminders about hand washing from HICPAC, will probably fall to the wayside.
@thatkatharine what I cling to is…… NIOSH mainly serves industrial clients, who are controlled by billionaires (part of the ‘acceptable’ oligarchic tribe). They still need respirators for all of the processes that pump carbon into the atmosphere and the Regurgitated President would never put THOSE at risk
Remember how 3M was quietly lobbying on behalf of anti-mask initiatives to protect their own asses from liability? They’re cozy with the overlords. They’re not going anywhere.
At least, I *think* their allegiances will buy us enough time to figure out the next thing.
