Since I can't resist a reading challenge, and Hungary is being horrific about queer rights right now, I decided to participate in the . I have nonfiction books on my TBR already, but I welcome recommendations for other genres 😊 Following the hashtag too!

@TarkabarkaHolgy I have fiction!

Peter Darling by Austin Chant with a trans Peter retuning to Neverland

The Sapling Cage by Margaret Killjoy has a trans girl stealthing to join witches

Less fantasy, more literary: Corey Fah does a A Social Mobility by Isabel Waidner. A working class, immigrant NB author wins an award but doesn’t know the unspoken rules needed to collect it

And I always recommend Finna by Nino Cipri, a NB main charachter working in not-ikea when a portal opens up

@TarkabarkaHolgy urm… I ran out of characters. But if you need any more especially sci-fi, fantasy, YA or graphic novels I have them!

@Clare I could fo for some fantasy that is not generic medieval setting... I recently read American Hippo which was amazing. Anything alt history or steampunk-y maybe?

@TarkabarkaHolgy I’m a bit over sensitive when it comes to steampunk because I’m working class from a cotton mill town and I’ve read too much bad steampunk that glosses over the human cost.

But Phoenix Extravagant Yoon Ha Lee has a non binary main charachter and a robot dragon. Also rebellion and family drama.

Dr. Zalka Csenge Virág

@Clare oh that one does sound fun!

Also, good point about steampunk. I haven't read much of it so far, but I am on the lookout for good recs.

@TarkabarkaHolgy I’ve just been burned by a few bad ones. I’d be happy to read something recommend by someone I trust. I love the aesthetic, I grew up going to industrial museums and riding heritage steam trains after all.

@Clare dows Mortal Engines count as steampunk? I really liked that one. Also, not sure if American Hippo counds since it's more cowboy than steam. It's a nebulous concept...

@TarkabarkaHolgy @Clare Not entirely trans readathon material, but China mieville's bas lag books are great steampunk written from a working class perspective.
It's perdid street station, the scar & the iron council.
