Dr. Zalka Csenge Virág

Alright, since many of you asked so excitedly :)

I have read so far:

Shirin Mama (Sibe people) - warrior girl defeats bandits and rescues orphaned children, becoming a goddess

Chandravati's Ramayana (Bengal) - 16th century retelling from Sita's perspective

Ochi-Bala (Altai people) - warrior maiden fights an evil sorcerer to protect her people

I'm currently reading The Tale of Princess Fatima - an Arabic epic about a warrior woman

@TarkabarkaHolgy
One of my favorite women in all of literature is Scheherazade; the greatest storyteller who ever lived. We think of 1001 Arabian Nights as just adventure stories, but it's really a painful story of how Scheherazade brought a once good man back from an evil path, just by telling him stories.

@TarkabarkaHolgy Why do you think these have survived when so many others were lost?

@TarkabarkaHolgy Probably not a myth, but have you read Ursula K. LeGuin's Lavinia? It's the story of the woman who married Aeneas in Virgil's Aeneid, from her perspective.
