People keep telling me blogging is dead / dying / for old people, but I'm still enjoying it a lot.
If you'd like to join the April A to Z Challenge, here are some reasons:
A lot of bloggers join, and we all visit each other through April (and beyond)
People do fascinating themes
I always come across a lot of blogs I would not have found otherwise, and topics I didn't know could be so interesting

I love this creativity, but given the nature of my blog, I’m not sure it will work for new content, but…
I try to post links on social everyday to existing content on my blog. I think I can figure out a way to incorporate this idea into my posts and supplement any missing letters with two or three new posts.
Sounds like fun! #blogging #AtoZchallenge #April
@PamPortlandWriter @TarkabarkaHolgy Is there a page of instructions / what the challenge actually is? The page seems to have a couple of posts talking about getting ready, and a bonus reveal but nothing about the a-z part (and I'm still not sure on the reveal part either tbh). It looks interesting and I too am trying to work out if my blog is suitable.
@PamPortlandWriter @TarkabarkaHolgy *I should add, please and thank you for any help!
@PamPortlandWriter @TarkabarkaHolgy Ah found it! http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/p/what-is-blogging-from-to-z.html?m=1 The nav bar is almost invisible on the mobile site :) ok a post every day except Sundays in April moving through the alphabet. Sounds fun although my usual posts tend to be longer and take longer to write so I'll have to think of how to shorten them for this (or I won't make it half way)
You know, it just occurred to me this morning that I have been posting these all month with the #AtoZchallenge hashtag, but I haven’t seen any other posts.
Clearly I have been hiding in some outlier version of the algorithm.
@PamPortlandWriter @TarkabarkaHolgy I think it's not so much the algorithm (there isn't one, not in that sense), but the weird way Mastodon servers talk to each other, or, as seems to be the case here, don't talk to each other. I can see your posts when I look at your "original page", but not when I look at your profile from my server. I was going to run out of room, but I'll tag you in a post in a sec with all the others I found posting on the hashtag so far
@PamPortlandWriter @TarkabarkaHolgy Sorry one question I never could find an answer to: there is supposed to be some bonus reveal today but the site doesn't say any more than that. Who is revealing what please? (Thought I better check in case I should have something prepared today) Thank you, and sorry for all the questions!
@CoinOfNote @TarkabarkaHolgy
Good Q. I’m not sure. I went ahead and just started planning my social posts and haven’t checked back on the original site. I’ll try to pop over and check it out this weekend.
@PamPortlandWriter @TarkabarkaHolgy me too! I just remembered something about the 16th :)
1/2: As best I can tell, it’s up to each blogger to post their theme on their own site through the 16th to build excitement about your daily posts. There’s also .jpgs and embeddable code available for your use. Looks like you can also tag the organizing blog for more coverage.
@PamPortlandWriter @CoinOfNote Theme reveal is an ongoing thing between the 10th and the 16th. If you are doing a theme (not everyone does), you can add the link to the Theme Reveal list and visit others who are revealing ahead of April what they will be posting about :)
@TarkabarkaHolgy @PamPortlandWriter Thanks! I had been busy thinking about and planning what to post for each letter, and was initially stuck on "but A-Z IS the theme isn't it?" But, thinking on my own blog, I write about coins - so I'm planning each day to be a coin from a country beginning with that day's letter - Austria, Brazil, Canada etc. So... countries are my theme :) Now just have to work out how / where to do the reveal! Thank you for your patience with this dunce!
2/2: Overall, I think it’s more complex in actuality than I’m biting off, but it did require a bit of work on my part to see if I have existing content related to every letter of the alphabet. Turns out I do, except for the letter K, so I went through my pending topics and found one I could write to fill the vacant letter.
TL;DR I’m just posting existing blog content on social for each of the 26 days.
@PamPortlandWriter @TarkabarkaHolgy Good job :) I guess it's one of those things we can each interpret as we see fit. I was thinking A-Z IS the topic, but I guess you add your own. So I post about coins on my blog, and I'm planning each post to be a coin from a country beginning with that letter. Austria, Brazil, Canada, etc, so I guess I could "reveal" that :)
@CoinOfNote @PamPortlandWriter A to Z can be a topic, but also a structure :) Like, I am doing "Romance tropes in folklore" this year, selecting one for each letter :)
