When I volunteered for a cat rescue org that was permitted to use the adoption centre space inside a big box pet store, the people in charge were frequently trying to fit 20-30 cats (generally including a couple of litters of 5-6 kittens) into a space with 8-10 enclosed sleeping quarters. With that many cats in one space, some cats will catch and spread colds. It’s a result of the lack of fosters to handle kitten litters.

Rescue orgs and hoarders think they’re doing the cats a favour by cramming them into spaces because the alternative is bleaker. But there are gonna be health problems and massive vet bills as a result.
Of course, the public is ignorant of that side of it all. Like they’re ignorant about TNR programs to humanely reduce the feline population in feral colonies.
(Double of course, I think it’s a terrible idea to subject cats to the general public in the ongoing Covid Age.)
I think it is mistreatment of animals and humans to be going out maskless and helping spread viruses all over creation.
