People on the dock are pulling up pots now too, I see crabs!

I’m just going to go to the cook shack for my crab needs

Got a day fire started even though it is almost 60F

I found a Classical station on the frequency modulation machine. Perfect soundtrack for sitting by the river

Got chased off the fire by rain

The wood they have wasn’t burning very good anyway

There WERE NOT cucumber seeds in this envelope when I found it while cleaning the camper

Taking 1/2 right now

Edit: took the 2nd half a couple hours later and had a wonderful afternoon with a mellow buzz

The steam pots are running all day

Site is $49, dock access is 17 per ring more

Cleaning stations and boiler is included

Rings for rent if needed

Buy a cooked crab for 18.50 lb crabs weigh 1.5-2 lbs each

Buy oyster for 19 doz

Clams

9.50 lb

Only the steam pot so good for crab and clams

Haven’t tried oysters that way but would get them hot

Two fire barrels between the tables

There is beer for sale in the store

You can have your lunch in a boat if you want

The only sun of the day is as it dips under the clouds

Dry and calm all day except for a squall that lasted about an hour

I think I finally got the fire going

The one I tried to start today wasn’t burning well, the host mentioned it might be a little wet

Had to use some cooking oil to spice it up

Not as immediately explosive as charcoal lighter fluid or gas

I decided to stay another night and try to catch crabs

They suggested a trap instead of a ring for leaving in all day

Two fish carcasses in the bait box

In the drink!

Will pull at about 3 (the cooker closes at 4)

Will get some of their oysters and clams for lunch

Got the whole shack, lights, fire pit, tables and kitties to myself

Bingo was a good dog on the patio with about 20 people and a few dogs

The only barking was from one dog that barked at every dog, but not cats

Everybody else is gone, no employees or other campers

Bingo surveying his domain now that everyone else has left

I have had a few expeditions that had no particular place to go or time to be there

A few times I’ve found random places that warrant staying a 2nd night

This is one of the first times I’ve had time and interest in staying a 3rd night

Next stop is Salem OR through Christmas with my brother and his grandkids

I get to kiss babies!

Just doused the fire pit in the Qrab Shaq and headed back to the camper

Only 830 PST but feels like the middle of the night

I’ve been going to bed within an hour of sunset this winter

Glad we hit the turn around the local star for longer exposure in the northern hemisphere

I really have to leave tomorrow…

There is one problem with grabbing two medium size totes of CDs from two big totes of CDs at random when on the road for a while

Might be some you’re not so interested in

Lots of good stuff in the grab

Alas, no

Would fit the mood right now

I guess I dipped heavily in the Christmas section of the collection

One can never go wrong when Bing is involved

Nobody Bahrumpapumpums like little drummer Bing

Barumpabumdadum

As Bing started signing Gloria, it was “Gloria in excelsis Deo" not GLOOORIA

Now Bing has me craving for some Figgy Pudding

Next up is Gershwin Plays The Rolls

I think it’s him playing real keys to some of his earlier works that were on paper player piano rolls

He replays them for a period recording

At one point I thought he was really jamming with a recursive loop and call back

It was just the CD skipping for a few bars that was just timed well

The Gershwin disc was fun

I think these songs were composed in the 1920s and were hits with paper rolls for player pianos and sheet music

That’s where the money was before affordable home playing of recorded music

Some great changes of meter and chords that I recognize from contemporary jazz and modern Prog Rock

So many notes and only two hands!

Me and Mick are about to light this empty trailer park on fire

My 5 watt boombox with 4 inch speakers is UP

If the RV is rock’n don’t bother knock’n because I’m just boot scoot’n and the door is wide open

The Clash meets early 21st century techno makes me happy

Who’s up for more B.A.D after midnight?

This guy

At least for a while

Left Crab Paradise about 1 this afternoon and got to Salem by 4, just before dark

I’ll be staying in the camper through Christmas at least

Got the gas oven burning

Going to cook a frozen pot pie!

Pot pie is almost lava

First timer for 32 minutes at 400 just went off

Going a few more minutes

Been hard to keep the temp accurate

It’s 51f with rain showers

I like having the door open when possible, especially when I’m smoking

Having the oven on for about an hour was bonus heat

I have a small AC space heater running

That usually keeps it about 60 inside

Gas furnace is available for cold nights or at least getting dressed and making coffee in the morning

Just closed the door at 9pm and turned on the furnace

At 9:17 it is 70f and warm enough to put my jammies on

I leave the electric heater running but I also have a canine foot warmer

GentleMan Gef

Just poked around my new Apple TV app with my first iPhone

Since data availability has been an impedance to video streaming

No TV for two weeks now

Past me downloaded all of and at least one episode of

Will have to up my download game once the internet tubes are bigger

S1E1 now on my phone screen!

This home smoked cheddar and dilly beans from last summer plus crackers were part of a holiday gift basket from friends

Woke up at midnight hungry for this and was very disappointed when I couldn’t find the tin of sardines I thought I had in the cupboard

Alas, no fishes with my nosh

One thing I miss about living in a house instead of the camper for extended periods of time is a comfortable chair

Not even a big recliner, a plush armchair with a footstool would be fine

I only have the benches for the dinette table

I can get pretty comfortable with extra pillows, but just not the same for extended periods of lounging

Finally have trousers and shoes on by 11:15

Didn’t bother to until after noon yesterday

I haven’t bought any media from Apple since I got my iPhone

I did buy some on iTunes years ago when I had an iPod Nano

I now have some shows stored on my phone for viewing when no streaming is available

Shitters full

Outhouse is a couple hundred meters away

Managed to drop a load there during a lull in the rain about 5am

Too rainy to even step outside to pee on the ground so I just open the door and piss into the wind

There is a dump on site, waiting for a break in the storm before I drive over to it

Last night’s storm had winds 20+ with gusts in the 40mph range

Camper was really bouncing around

Got an extra doggie visitor in the camper

My dog Bingo is sleeping in the background and Damu woke up when I tried to snap a picture

My no signal TV watching from downloaded content is getting

I had all of Firefly plus Serenity available to load up

Man! That first episode of is an action packed adventure extravaganza!

So past me bought the first 20 episodes of Game Of Thrones for my iPod

Now that I have an iPhone I downloaded them for offline viewing

Haven’t rewatched it since it ended

Baby Arya looks so innocent!

I used the rice cooker for the first time this trip

I sautéed some onion and a large tin of chicken with teriyaki sauce for dinner

Left the leftovers in the pot overnight and added a can of black beans and some more garlic and hot sauce for breakfast

The regular cook cycle warmed it up just right!

I’m now watching Jonny Quest on my no signal downloaded TV content on my iPhone adventure

It sure is loaded with Imperial Colonial racism

At least they made Hadji “one of the good ones”

The futuristic tech from the 1960s is still fun though

Just finished season one of Game Of Thrones on my no signal downloaded iPhone content

THERE BE DRAGONS!

Edit: I’m a bit disappointed. When I first saw the list of stuff I bought on iTunes back in 2012 for my iPod I saw 20 episodes.

Alas, only the 10 episodes of season one and 10 bonus content clips.

They were actually pretty interesting!

Just started on my no signal downloaded iPhone content

Just bought a new deep cycle battery for the camper

I was going to anyway because it didn’t last long enough, but this morning we heard a LOUD pop while plugged into AC power

We checked the battery and the plastic cover had popped off due to pressure

Disconnected it immediately and went to the store

All systems within normal operating parameters

New media option for the camper. It has a telescoping crank up antenna mast with digital antenna

Found a new 32inch tv for $79 US

On setup it scanned 17 channels

I Stopped when it hit METV TOONS!

I haven’t watched OTA TV since the 80s!

@SecularJeffrey

Since it’s just the two of us, we removed the sofa dinette completely. One Lazyboy sits where the dinette and one where the sofa…comfort is more important than style at my age

@djg

A 9ft slide in camper has pretty tight quarters

The side bench sits over the pickup wheel well in the bed and the bench on the backside houses the battery

Could fit a small chair where the table goes but barely

@SecularJeffrey

We have a 26’ bumper tow, so we got lucky that the middle had just enough space. Good camping to you!

@SecularJeffrey Apparently there's discussion on the "right" order to watch the episodes.

@doktrock

There were a few episodes originally aired out of order originally, I’ve never bothered to figure out which ones

@SecularJeffrey I could never get past that first episode.. and I tried twice
it just had this space-western vibe, and I was never that into westerns
although it does have something of a cult following

@SecularJeffrey we discovered these on DVD long after they aired. Totally agree with you, I found them very exciting and quickly engrossing.

@SecularJeffrey
Of you like that show check out The Venture Brothers.
On point satire for our generation.

@SecularJeffrey

It's a good show. I saw it on DVD though so the quality was great.

@SecularJeffrey

I see you’re watching #Firefly, but also kudos for having some #StarTrekTOS and #JonnyQuest on hand!
