Andi Brooks<p>The oldest of all Noh masks, the Okina (old man) mask withrounded eyebrows &amp; separated chin is different from other noh masks. It has a lower jaw attached to the main mask with a cord. The eyes are open slits, rather than sculpted eyeballs with bored holes for pupils. Okina is said to be a noh play, but not a noh play. It has no storyline. It is a sacred rite in which actors perform divine figures who dance for peace, prosperity, and safety.<br><a href="https://toot.community/tags/Noh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Noh</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E8%83%BD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>能</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/N%C5%8D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Nō</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E8%83%BD%E9%9D%A2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>能面</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/n%C5%8Dmen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nōmen</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E9%9D%A2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>面</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/omote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>omote</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/Noh_mask" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Noh_mask</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/Okina" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Okina</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E7%BF%81" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>翁</span></a></p>
Andi Brooks<p>I've just picked up this lovely 1960s tieclip with an Okina noh mask design. The patina of the metal is really attractive.<br><a href="https://toot.community/tags/Noh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Noh</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E8%83%BD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>能</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/N%C5%8D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Nō</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E8%83%BD%E9%9D%A2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>能面</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/n%C5%8Dmen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nōmen</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E9%9D%A2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>面</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/omote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>omote</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/Noh_mask" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Noh_mask</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/Okina" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Okina</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/%E7%BF%81" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>翁</span></a></p>
