Worker on the deck of the F/V Western Edge on the New Bedford waterfront, grinding accumulated corrosion off a pulley wheel. Have to get it smooth so it doesn't damage the cable it will carry—he said he'd been at this for several hours.

Despite being somewhat simple, this photo has always captured the feeling of summer on the coast of Maine for me. While the color tones of film aren’t always true to reality, it has a way of capturing the soul of a place that digital can’t compare to.
