Pity the PTV app doesn't have a setting for 'alternative route'. It keeps giving me this one tram even though there's a long walk in the middle section because of track works.

Instead I'm planning to catch the number 1 tram to where it intersects with tram 12 beyond the works.

This Lyon tram resembles those bloody awful C-class trams we have in Melbourne. Same narrow hard seats, though the exterior looks a bit funkier.

A fine piece of often-overlooked civic architecture here in Fitzroy, Melbourne - the former cable tram engine house on the corner of Nicholson and Gertrude Streets. It used to haul long cables under the streets to pull trams along the Clifton Hill and Nicholson Street lines, which operated from 1887 to 1940.

Beautiful sunny autumn day here in Melbourne. Knocked off some work on the laptop in a CBD cafe, so now I'm off on a tram for a French bistro lunch in Fitzroy. As you do.

Sigh as much as I try to avoid them, occasionally I have to ride aboard a crappy C-class tram. Hard to illustrate with this photo just how narrow the seats are, but believe me - they are *very* narrow. And hard. #Melbourne #Tram #Trams #Tramstodon
