PeggyStuart<p>While camping I reached the time to cut the armhole steek on my Oregon Autumn Cardigan by Alice Starmore. I brought my good scissors along. Snippy-snippy! Then I had to pick up the stitches around the opening to start the sleeve. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/colorwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>colorwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/steeks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>steeks</span></a></p>
A bend gules: dabbler in arts<p>The weebly wobbly line down the middle is the start of the rows, approximately. I decided since I was cutting these stitches as a steek the pattern repeats didn't have to end perfectly. <br>I'll straighten the steek, and backstitch both edges before cutting ✂️ <br><a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/FairIsle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FairIsle</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/steeks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>steeks</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/KittingTechniques" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KittingTechniques</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/ScaryNewThings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScaryNewThings</span></a></p>
A bend gules: dabbler in arts<p>Finished mismatched fingerless mitts from Shetland wool, as a way to learn colourwork. They're assembled in 2 different ways to try out steeks as a part of Fair Isle type knitting. Result: steeks are a 💩 way to create a thumb. Better solutions exist.<br>I've learned a lot and am now applying myself to a larger test piece, before attempting an actual sweater project. Requires a lot of v rusty arithmetic.<br><a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/colourwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>colourwork</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/FairIsle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FairIsle</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/steeks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>steeks</span></a> <a href="https://medievalist.masto.host/tags/ShetlandWool" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ShetlandWool</span></a></p>
