Yesterday my schedule and the weather suited a return to gliding for the first time since the fires. I did four flights - the second was a checkout in a new type (the Grob 103), and the third a little soaring trip in the Schweizer 1-26. The first and fourth were just commuting in the Cessna 172.

Happy with the wind and steering mechanics. Realistic, a bit arcade style exaggerated, tough but playable. Takeoffs are possible if ugly, landings are... not so soft.
The terrain rendering - currently all 2D sprites - is hitting some limits on mobile, so I probably have to look into some of the accelerated libraries. Currently I'm taking shortcuts and scaling down FOV when that happens, because we want to focus on the fun parts. Refactoring is for when the kids are sleeping...
We're thinking of adding badges for achievements and sightseeing goals. That'll allow us to add lots of things to discover.
Pressing on - two flights today in turbulent skies and poor visibility. This shot is from the last flight, and has been heavily dehazed to allow one to 'just' about discern the city of York ahead.

Back in the air - today marked solo number 50, and 60+ hours in the air, with a lovely 53 minute thermic flight on the first day of Spring - and in the plane that I did solo #1 in.
With small hope this is a positive omen.

@billgoats i have another one. In #soaring (flying planes without engines) we long used #ipaq s for navigation (screen sunlight readable), attached to the windshields. One pilot came to me and told me that his IPAQ would stall when the course of the plane was between 270 and 300 degrees. Somewhat perplexed I went looking and found out that the IRDA port in IPAQs had a bug, that would cause 100% cpu if the sun shone into the IRDA port. Firmware update fixed that.
