Helm charts are great for managing applications but a massive pain to prep for initial deployment, am I doing this wrong?

With a new chart, I spend time reading through chart values and reading over the templates to see if certain features are supported by the chart or not. Reading go templates isn't exactly how I enjoy spending my time

When you create a chart, the default template supports a lot of standard features (overriding labels, setting TLS details for the ingress, securityContext, etc) which is fantastic... When I find a ready made chart on GitHub, I find that people have renamed some of these or stripped them out. I'm using NFS storage which means I think about process UID/GID a lot and typically create PVCs manually to be mounted in specific places which sometimes works great and sometimes not so much

I feel like I missed the boat with k8s-at-home which had an incredible collection of ready-made charts but it's a shame it's gone dark since :sadness:

Is anyone using any kind of #selfhosted "family" hub, sort of like a private facebook? Looking for something the wife and kids to share pictures/videos/messages on.

Ideally something with an Android app is preferred. I know I can run an instance of mastodon or other fediverse instance and use one of the many apps, but wasn't sure if there was something more geared toward family use. Thanks.

If Synology institutes hard drive lock-in, I'll have to finally move off the platform.

Does anyone have thoughts on power-efficient, middle of the line hardware for a small form factor server?

That or it's time to get a ridiculously large rack and turn my hobby into a sickness.

Hey guys, I have a question for anyone out there who likes to #selfhost

I'm looking for inspiration and ideas for new services to host on my Ubuntu Server instance. I have Pihole running, and I'm wondering what you guys who run Ubuntu Server in your #homelab have running in your servers?

I'm new to all of this, so please be kind, as I said before, I'm just looking for inspiration!

Deshalb #selfhost

Hey fedi, is there any good, reliable, open source forum software that is created in Europe, is not developed by bigots of any sorts? Bonus follow-up question: what would be some hassle free, Europe based, not very expensive hosting options for that kind of stuff? Note: definitely not Hetzner.

#introduction Hello all, Ive been on the fediverse on a number of accounts for about five years, finally it was time to make my own instance and decided on mastodon.

I mainly want to share photos I've taken over the years. I moved fully to #Linux about a year ago and its taken some time to settle and get to editing photos.

I am interested in #macro #aviation #streetphotography #pcbuild #birds #nature #bayarea #cert #sar #tech #Photo

any boost would be appreciated from my #selfhost instance
