Silent Sunday

I have to come past Sutra wind farm once a day on average at the moment. I always appreciate the view. Of course as normal, they were all turning. This was taken at lunchtme today - almost unprecedented weather streak for the Scottish Borders at the beginning of April

Ok, imaginary windows 🤣 A small barn by the side of the A668 in the Scottish Borders has been decorated with 'windows' - and from a distance they might be mistaken for real ones if you are in a hurry

amendment - the discussion thread is worth reading

Sunday 30 March is the last day you can see the free exhibition "Where We Stand" in the #ScottishBorders at Stow Town Hall, telling the story of 100 years of the struggle for community land ownership in Scotland.

Go if you can. It is open 10-4.00 today...and remember the clocks have changed!

Live-streamed from Eigg on April 8, "Trusting People to be Wild" looks at community activism and empowerment on Eigg - an inspiration for communities for almost three decades.

Evening run before we are back up in Edinburgh for a long day, oh joy

8.5k, all road, dry and quiet. But coming back along the Teviot, dumbo de dug decided that he would bring a souvenir. I frequently pause here and throw a stick a few times to wind him down, but this? At least he brought it back another k and it is on the 'to be chopped' for the stove pile....

Good morning! Exciting news about our second birthday celebrations on Sunday 6th April! We'll be joined by our local best-selling author and friend of the shop Ed James, who'll be with us from 2pm signing copies of his latest #ScottishBorders crime novel, Fear of Any Kind.
We'll also have cupcakes, fizz and a raffle for the Galashiels Foodbank, so please come along and celebrate two years of the Wedale Bookshop!

We are absolutely delighted to announce a very special free author event in June. Discover some truly dark moments in our history with writers Mary W Craig and A. D. Bergin as they look at the witch hunts of 1649-50, which included Stow and Newcastle.
Free event, 18+. St Mary of Wedale Church, Stow, Thursday 19 June at 7pm. Please reserve your free spaces by emailing hello@wedalebooks.scot #scottishborders #localbookshop

Morning run

We have had a glorious few days in the Borders and today has started off just as well. 12.5k road and tracks, followed by a swim (for the dug) - it’s ether that or the hose before my partner will let him back into the cottage, and he prefers the swim.

Jings! What a week! Great to see the shop so busy and we've had some fantastic sessions of the Tuesday Book Club and SCRIEVE Creative Writing Group.
Our Gaelic Conversation Group starts this month - it's getting pretty much full, so get in touch soon! Next month sees the launch of our new Folklore Club and we've new events coming up soon. Stow is the place to be!
We're open 10-4.30 today, Saturday and Sunday - pop in and say hello! #localbookshop #scottishborders
