Rents are expensive, I know. Corporate landlords are a scourge. But get this: I have, on my 40-acre farm, a 2nd dwelling, 750 sq ft 1 BR house often rented to farm help. In the last 3 months, I've put on a new roof + gutters, interior paint, heat and appliance repairs, electrical work, and this week, a new sewer pipe. Grand total: $18,000. There is no amount of rent I could or would charge to cover that plus taxes, insurance, and outdoor work like fallen tree removal last week.

Another conspiracy to cause a public nuisance the police will be unlikely to be chasing down:

Landlords & Tories are colluding to try and derail the renters' rights bill (despite having had a similar measure in mind when the Tories where in power)....

However, they are likely to find some (quiet) allies in the Labour MPs who are also landlords; it unclear if that will prove enough to find a way to disrupt any expansion in renters' rights?

The Labor gov has repeatedly created immigration targets which itself has allowed to blow past. Temporary visas are demand-driven and without caps there's zero chance immigration would suddenly fall.

However, this *is* a trend experienced by all developed nations and the Aus Gov has done shit all to introduce policies to encourage people to start families. Like, why import tons of Muslims and risk destabilising social cohesion as seen in Germany / Sweden / France?

I was in the resident portal where I rent and noticed a document among my files.

It was an eviction document dated roughly one year ago. Nobody ever talked to me about evicting me, so I decided to take a look.

That letter was telling me in no uncertain terms and very stridently that I was on the hook to pay $0, or else!!!!!!!!
