Rachel<p><span>So looking at my home networking, I've got three main options<br><br>1. Keep opnsense as the router, possibly even keep the switch but add a 2.5gb switch <br>2. Go crawling back to unifi (less likely, $$$)<br>3. Swap the core out with Microtik, including router and core switches <br><br>The third option is really interesting to me, but I've heard people talk about limitations that they've encountered with Microtik so I'm really curious how people feel about them and what those limitations were<br><br></span><a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Networking" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Networking</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Homelab" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Homelab</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/MicroTik" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MicroTik</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Unifi" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Unifi</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Opnsense" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Opnsense</a></p>

I cannot believe that it provided a total of 119 entities for displaying information about my <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=freebsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#FreeBSD</a> router. Not that I'm going need anywhere near that.<br>At the moment I'm showing the following:<br><br>CPU's 0-3 temperatures<br>Memory used<br>Uptime since last boot<br>WAN PPPoE Status<br>OPNsense Integration Updates Available<br>WAN IN/OUT graphs<br>LAN IN/OUT graphs<br><br><br><a href="https://github.com/travisghansen/hass-opnsense" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://github.com/travisghansen/hass-opnsense</a><br><br>
Justine SmithiesOh ! This looks good so I think I'll ditch my plans for collectd and mqtt. Justine SmithiesI think after we've been shopping this morning I might retire my old Raspberry Pi 2 that has been running as a NUT ( Network UPS Tools ) server for years and setup NUT on my new <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=opnsense" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OPNsense</a> router instead. Then I'll look into setting up Collectd with MQTT again for displaying stuff on my <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#HomeAssistant</a> server monitoring dashboard. It was previously setup on my old <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=openwrt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OpenWRT</a> router.<br><a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=runbsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#RunBSD</a> <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#HomeLab</a><br>
