Spotted this tiny #Nomada sp #bee yesterday, my1st of the year. Usually I see them zipping around the rock gardens, hard to get a shot- this one posed for a minute, resting on some dry grass. This is the only local red bee I know of; cute, apparently parasitic on other solitary bees. "it's not easy, being bee" (line to be sung, in voice of Kermit the Frog). They do feed on nectar, so probably do some pollination though they do not collect pollen (their hosts take care of that!) #nature #Alberta

A very small wasp like bee, it is mostly a deep red-brown with some black markings and black and light yellow on upper abdomen. It is resting on a dry plant stem surrounded by dry grass blades etc.
