I have lived in San Francisco for 44 years. Born and raised in London during the 70s, I was aware of the importance of public transport to the life of a major world class city. Thanks to visionary government, the antique London transport system became revitalized to meet the needs of the 21st century.
Not in San Francisco where funding cuts threaten our city’s health and future.
Please look to major metropolitan areas across the globe, take note of concepts like congestion charges, local income taxes, & taxes on the ultra wealthy (of which we have plenty!) to ensure that this jewel of a city actually has a future through public transport.
I take Muni every day. I use the Metro and the bus system. San Francisco is my oyster thanks to the robust transportation system our little yet world class town.
San Francisco needs its transportation system and it needs you to step up and make our future brighter.
Masking is so random. I was on an LRV this morning and all 4 of us riders were masked. But coming back on the bus, only 2 out of 8 were masked.

MUNI is considering cutting service this summer in hopes of meeting a budget shortfall. We need to raise awareness over this serious issue, because the federal government will no longer be helping us meet the needs of our public transportation system.

Hurt all who cannot drive, esp those with impaired mobility and vision.
Delay meaningful movement on mode shift, essential #ClmateAction to reduce transportation emissions.
Increase air and water pollution from PM2.5 from tires and brakes.
Increase congestion
#TNCs - even Waymo & Zook - are not a substitute for many reasons. (Bus fare vs TNC charges? Ever get into a Waymo with a mobility scooter or wheelchair? It's easy on a #MUNI bus)
And we need Mayor Laurie & BOS to actively fight at the state level for better options to #FundTransit. Will they?
