Amsterdam_XXXIn the middle of the city’s ‘Red Light District’ stands the “Oude Kerk”, the city’s oldest building, founded in 1️⃣3️⃣0️⃣6️⃣. Its vast wooden ceiling, gives the Gothic interior a unique atmosphere. 🧖♀️🕯️<br>

The church shifted from Catholic to Protestant after the 1️⃣5️⃣7️⃣8️⃣ Reformation. Many locals were buried here, including some prominent figures, like Saskia van Uylenburgh, Rembrandt’s wife. 🪦☠️ 🎨 <br>

Now a cultural venue, it hosts exhibitions, concerts & art. Though no longer used for services, its historic soul remains alive at the Oudekerksplein. ⛪️ <br>

Amsterdam Eric<p>I can see Westerkerk from my street at home from just the right angle, and I can hear the bells ringing when the wind is still or blowing the right way, and I never get tired of it. Erfgoed Bekeken<p>Deze prachtige kerk maakte dat de beroemde Pierre Cuypers Roermond voor Amsterdam verruilde.
