*Hearthfire Echoes*
Luminous ghosts keep me company
Persistent in their haunting
As hearthfire simmers to remnants glow
And gaze meets remembered gaze across
Fragile scenes flickering at perceptions edge
Moments stolen from time’s erasure
If only for heartbeats
By things as fickle as flame and light
Before firefly shine surrenders
Spark by spark
To evenings subtle grace
And though light and lives must ultimately dim
Fading incandescence reminds that
These fleeting glimpses restored
Offer a radiance of solace to solitude
Buoying against the dark until
Night has done its work

Sharing from this instance because this is 60 characters too long for a standard toot and I know how much I hate having to click through to another link to read a thing.
@FrostPoem I dropped this in the server too but I told you I'd be back soon

@jwcph @rysiek @infinite8horizon The candle is the closest one of those examples and it still required the development of entirely orthogonal technology.
Oh my, "Incandescence" by Nii Ayikwei Parkes in the #Glimpse anthology is one of the finest stories I've ever read. It dances with language, storytelling, meaning and the audience under its glare. It is, in a word, brilliant.
