Musikliebhaber meiner Generation schätzen vor allem #ChrisBlackwell. Der reiche britische Erbe hatte sich auf Jamaika niedergelassen und die Plattenfirma ISLAND RECORDS gegründet, die die Welt mit #Reggae und Folkrock beglückte - dazu gehörte damals auch Cat Stevens.
Die Älteren kennen eher dessen Bekannten #IanFleming, der in der Karibik seine Bond-Romane verfasst hatte...

The James Bond novels and movies were among other things (like indulgent fantaisies for men) a way for Great Britain to feel comfortable, reassured about their influence after the winding down of the empire.

In current times, the passing of the 007 icon from the UK to the US does feel very symbolic isn’t it ?

Mr Buchan’s novel, The Thirty-Nine Steps, published in 1915, was adapted into a film by Hitchcock 20 years later. The story was noted by Bond creator Ian Fleming through the similarities between the spy and Buchan’s character Richard Hannay, as well as the use of the spy thriller “chase” to escape his enemies.
