I love it when the world catches up with me XD (OK, in this case it's the UK rather than the world.)

Surely the way to stop kids looking at things that aren't appropriate for children on the internet isn't to take those things off the internet - pretty much a decade-long gov policy under both parties, though the new laws only just came into effect. It's to stop kids having unsupervised access to the open internet. Surely the only sane solution is clear... prosecute parents who give their kids smartphones. "Nail 'em up, I say! Nail some sense into 'em!!1!"

Simon Jenkins says "Trump tried to defy the constitution in 2021. He will not do so again."

The Tangerine Tyrant is actively dismantling many of the checks and balances by which the Constitution is upheld. It's an outrageously bold statement from Jenkins, which he makes no attempt to substantiate.

if these people have 20-30+ years experience in the TV industry, they surely would know this has been a problem for 3 decades, the rot set in during the 90s when the regional TV companies cannibalised each other and thousands of jobs were lost - first to go were the younger and minority staff (this was even before #streaming #media ) and they didn't get a #Grauniad column back then (it seemed folk in the #CreativeIndustries were in denial about what was happening)

#Grauniad columnist is asking who started the culture war between cyclists and drivers. I don't know but I certainly know who is string shit as long as they can make a living out of it.

I don’t ordinarily post anything written by the Quislings at the #Grauniad! However, I’ll make a rare exception to post this because I think it makes an important contribution to understanding some of the key “players” driving the US descent into #Fascism!

Too right!

As Johnathan Cook writes in “Why the news media’s job is to groom us” on Substack:

“Chomsky and Herman’s Propaganda Model explains in detail how western publics are ‘brainwashed under freedom’ by a media driven by hidden corporate & state interests. Those interests can be concealed only because the media decides what counts as news and frames how we understand events.”

This crap has all the hallmarks of a country house party five days into being cut off by a blizzard and reduced to sitting round in the billiard room trying to imagine how the common people chat amongst each other during cocktails before dinner.

I can see the advantages of the LGPS being one scheme rather than many. But as someone with a family member whose pension fund was raided by Mugger Murdoch, our pension pots being viewed as resources to fund our employers’ activities is worrying…

Also, it has not been a final salary scheme in over a decade.
