Environmental and Climate change issues are low on the priority list for the candidates most likely to be the next Prime Minister of Canada. "The two candidates do offer something different. With Poilievre, we reach 2 C or 3 C as quickly as possible. With Carney, we buy some time to alert Canadians to a climate disaster before it actually hits us." Neither scenario inspires optimism. #election2025 #climatechange #fossilfuel #renewable thetyee.ca/Analysis/2025/04/15 @thetyee

"All-women/all-female astronauts" Yay! But remember we still have these issues to deal with: reproductive rights, gender-based pay inequality, gender-based violence, fossil fuel CO2 emissions, etc.

Manitoba is ending some of its #hydroelectric #electricity exports to the US and redirecting that energy for domestic 🇨🇦 development and to offset reliance on #fossilfuel / diesel power in northern communities.

The amount #electricity being redirected is around 500MW - this is an amount of power roughly equivalent to the power of the upcoming Rolls-Royce small modular #nuclear reactor (SMR).

"Of the 400m tonnes of plastic produced over the course of 2022, just under 38m tonnes (9.5%) was produced from recycled plastic, 98% of the remaining 362m tonnes was produced from fossil fuels, predominantly coal and oil."

Day twelve 🎃🪨

“Donald Trump says he has ambitions to compete with #Australia on coal production after signing executive orders designating the #FossilFuel as a #mineral and vowing to reinvigorate an industry that is in steep decline. …

During a rambling one-hour speech that spanned illegal immigration from Africa, Germany’s wind industry and energy challenges in California, Trump also specifically referenced Australia’s #CoalTrade with #China.

‘We have more coal than any other country. You go to Australia, they have fantastic amounts of coal. You know who they sell it to?’ he asked several dozen hard hat-wearing coal miners in the #WhiteHouse.

‘China. They sell it to China. They’re nearby. They sell a lot of it to China. But we have more than anywhere else on earth. We also have more liquid gold than anywhere on earth. So we’re really an #energy behemoth, but we’re unleashing that also.’”

Energy Resources. We should see some response by either party as to their Environmental and Climate policies by what is and isn’t said.

#Trump set to sign #ExecutiveOrders to boost #US #coal

When burned, coal releases more of the main #GreenhouseGas carbon dioxide than any other #FossilFuel. It also emits criteria #pollutants that are blamed for #lung & #heart illnesses. Much of its use has declined on #regulations from #Democrats, including President Joe #Biden.
