"Interfaith celebration unites South Asian community in Beaverton"

oregonlive.com/living/2025/04/

"Around 100 people convened at the Baha’i Center in Beaverton on Sunday afternoon to hear music and speakers, watch dance performances and share a meal together, blurring the lines between South Asian religions for a one-of-a-kind springtime event in Beaverton."

"… a way to bring together all members of the South Asian community" ❤️

Ah yes, another riveting tale of someone who "studied" #Rust by ignoring all the tutorials and actually doing work. 🤓⚙️ Meanwhile, the rest of us mere mortals are still trying to decipher what the heck a borrow checker is. 🙄🔧 But hey, at least now we know that Rust is perfect for #B2B #SaaS #backend #development... whatever that means. 🚀💼

Pretending climate collapse isn't happening isn't an option, no matter the GOP claim.

"Continued un-mitigated disasters trigger a cascade of financial crises as state-backed ins programs, municipalities & mortgage lenders require bailouts. The customer is abandoned... Previously privatized profits are now socialized as widespread losses, potentially leading to state insolvency."

Yesterday was my last day in Minneapolis and I spent it running around the city visiting the places I wanted to go. There is another, younger, scrappier non profit with neon called CAFAC - Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center - and it is right at George Floyd Square.

Seeing the square, and it's memorial was powerful. It seems there are daily events at the gas station- now changed into "People's way" with a campfire in the middle of the pumps and a brass band meeting up there along with about 50 other folks. 5 wood or Steel fists have been placed in the square, and the four intersections surrounding it. The spots of the incident, have been memorialized.

CAFAC has metal casting classes- and is public arts and activism oriented. Seems like they are ready (and are currently) making a very heavy, and long lasting iron, steel or bronze mark.

Their neon shop used all lead glass (out of production for 20 years. Funky- but exciting!
