I didn't know about this before now, but they turned Belco Oval into a wetland.

The point is to treat polluted water before it gets into Lake Ginninderra.

(This sort of water treatment system is what my employer models with computers. In fact, the ACT Healthy Waterways Project program mgr in the article used to be in the company)

15 April 2025: Mr Shawn John Michelin

ACT Commissioner for Fair Trading issues public warning notice about landscaping and carpentry business

ACT Commissioner for Fair Trading Derise Cubin has issued a Public Warning Notice about Shawn John Michelin (ABN 31 797 518 270) for possible contraventions of the Australian Consumer Law.

The warning was issued following allegations Mr Michelin accepted deposits and then failed to deliver on landscaping or carpentry works.

Canberrans have been left out of pocket with alleged deposit losses ranging from $876 to $12,000 for quoted works that have not been delivered in any capacity.

Mr Michelin has advertised works in the ACT and surrounding region under multiple business names, including 1Stop/Onestop Projects and Landscaping, Limited Projects and Earthworks, and most recently Aplus Construction or Elite Concrete.”

These services are often posted from a business page to Facebook groups based in the Canberra region, as well as on Gumtree.com.au.

The Commissioner is urging Canberrans to be vigilant and to undertake due diligence when entering into any contracts for similar services.

Canberra is not exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to really good fish and chip places.

Remember how fantastic that place in Mawson used to be? Or when the Yacht Club used to do great takeaway fish and chips downstairs?

We went for a wee walk tonight just to grab some crumbed fish from Little Theo's for dinner. We sat in the park and ate it piping hot, straight from the paper, with our fingers. It was, as always, delicious.
