My eyesight test did not go as well as expected. The astigmatism in one eye has become much worse.
I need to go back in a year rather than two, and I also have a few other issues that may be 'normal/stable' and due to improved detection, but will need monitoring.
New lenses are going to be expensive.
Let’s talk about dark mode and accessibility! There’s a myth that dark mode is good for accessibility, because it improves text readability. It's not always true.

@MiaWinter I guess it's safe to say it is normal here in the #Philippines since the early-90s. ^_^
Both with and without lenses.
I used to wear one in the early-90s, during my elementary years. I had to hide it from the family because they don't like the idea; and back then, it was believed it will damage your eyes. (Unless the lens is plastic.)
My fancy glasses was the Einstein model. Haha.
I now wear prescription glasses because #astigmatism. It was 2011 or 2012 when I switched to “real ones”. Many of my co-workers around that time also wore fashion eyeglasses. ^_~
Also, there are more reasons to wear zero-grade eyeglasses today, two such are computers and blue light. Some of the people I know wearing glasses are only wearing it for extra protection.
Has anyone got, seen, or can make up mock-ups of how points of light (or... very bright text on a dark background) can look to someone who suffers halos with astigmatism?
If yes to any of the above, may I use them in a talk?
Thank yooouuuu in advance!

Ugh. #Astigmatism corrections are THE WORST. Mine seem to float all over the place from day to day.
It took FOUR tries to get my latest pair right, and even then some days they’re *still* blurry.
Astigmatism. Sucks.
I was going to post this last night but forgot to. Turns out I have #astigmatism, which means either my lenses or something else with my eyes is egg-shaped and not focusing the light properly so for me far things appear blurry.
New glasses have arrived! I can see clearly again.
This is what $1400 buys you.
Do you prefer 1 or 2?
I’ll do that again.

I was in grad school taking an optics class before I learned that people are NOT supposed to see like this at night. #Astigmatism
For anyone else into self-measurement of #eyesight, here's a tool I just made to help you figure out what the axes of your #astigmatism are (if present): https://jeremy.org/misc/astigmatism.html
I’m #gobsmacked by how my #vision has deteriorated over the past year.
The need for #readers just so I can clip my fingernails is a real thing now. I remember when I was a kid, I was able to hold up money closely and focus on the little details. Now I can’t make out anything unless it’s at least two feet from my face.
Oh, and I have #astigmatism and things like lights have a halo around them now.
I was mostly OK losing half my hearing, but am having much more difficulty with my vision.
Here's what it looks like when someone with a severe #astigmatism uses #PSVR2 eye tracking to aim in #RezInfinite
It was kind of headache inducing because I was having trouble looking up at the higher targets - and there was even one target I missed completely because I just couldn't focus my eyes on it.
Great tech for people who have eyes that work! Probably not one I'll be able to use often. (Luckily it is very easily turned off - hooray for options)
