@aburka understood; there are public datasets of transit data leading up to, through, and post-pandemic but i'm not qualified to have an opinion on revenue and what is needed to support commuters but this will hurt employers in the city, especially the ones that were strongly encouraged to Return To Office.

The #RTO nonsense continues at work, with the clock ticking down to June 1. The typical staff meeting now has leaders trying desperately to put a positive spin on it, with zero awareness of how tone deaf they are. And then they have the gall to have staff to give Earth Day presentations!

If I were asked to do that, I'd be like "sure!" And then gleefully toss up a single slide: "Earth Day Goal #1: End Forced RTO." End of presentation.

Did a test run of #RTO yesterday, not because I *want* to go back, but because I want to be prepared for it. (And a few other reasons.)

The view was nice (I snagged a cube by the window), but that was it. I hated pretty much everything else. Even with a white noise machine going, it's still near impossible to concentrate when folks nearby are having loud convos. At home, I listen to my music on volume ~20 out of 100. There, I had to crank it to ~60 to make a difference. Oof.

WIRED · 'Wi-Fi Keeps Going Down': Donald Trump's Return-to-Office Mandate Is Going TerriblyBy David Gilbert

Sorry I've been MIA lately, y'all. My gov's forced #RTO order has me extremely preoccupied. I've never been on Discord so much!

I just sent my appeal to my supervisor. He'll just say his hands are tied, but I'm making him go through the motions! I'm going to continue to fight this tooth and nail, because if they can take THIS, what's next? Typewriters?

(That last quip taken from a sign I saw at Saturday's protest.)

Fuck Tim Walz.

Hes a Collaborator too far as im concerned.

"Democratic Governor Tim Walz does Trumpian Return To Office.

We all know that RTO is fossil fueled and caters to commercial real estate to get butts in seats downtown for The Economy. This is NOT a progressive move and Walz should be shamed harshly by Democrat voters in Minnesota for acting like a right-winger on telework.

'Gov. Walz announce change to state telework policy By WDIO Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced an update to the state’s telework policy for state workers. The change would require most state agency employees to work in-person for at least 50% of their scheduled work days. This would go in effect on June 1, 2025. “This approach balances the flexibility of telework with the workplace advantages of being in office,” said Gov. Walz. “Having more state employees in the office means that collaboration can happen more quickly and state agencies can build strong organizational cultures more easily.” '

That collaboration nonsense is all bullshit and we all know it by now. Anti-telework is just collaborating with right-wing business interests."

RTO mandates are a load of horse crap - if technology allows remote working then why rail against it?

Unless you're an inadequate bullying control freak type.

We are five years on from the first Covid lockdown. I wasn't furloughed. I spent most of my working time doing stuff to set up and help colleagues to work from home.

It made a huge positive difference.

And all the time I was working from home while doing this.

I get so much more done WFH.

This article also appears in today’s Seattle Times. The current head and henchmen of the Acme corporation, now running the White House, could probably benefit from some counseling to understand, if nothing else, just what is needed in VA psychiatry. What the supervisor recommends is not ethical, and are therapists supposed to purchase the white noise machine with their own funds? Post service treatment is not a couple of “weekend follow ups.” #VA #psychiatry #rto nytimes.com/2025/03/22/us/poli
