Novavax is on the chopping block and likely to not get FDA approval/lose its emergency use temporary approval.

Add your voice to make sure that #Novavax remains a #vaccine option. (It's particularly important for folks who get bad side effects from the mRNA vaccines!)

if the Sanofi deal does not go through because of these FDA shenanigans, there will be no more Novavax it seems

it’s not perfect but it’s currently the best we have

Other countries have extended it to nine months, just like the original vaccine, and should that extension be added in the US, their April batch will stay on the shelves. PSA: if you want to get a #Covid #vaccine booster (ie, usually at least 4+ months after your previous dose) and prefer #Novavax for a lower side-effect profile for you, the last batch expires at the end of March so now (before the end of the month) may be a good time. Some CVS & Costco in the Boston area seem to still have availability.

I got a dose of Novavax's updated vaccine against covid when it was released last fall. I had been planning to get a booster dose either when the next covid surge began or when it had been 6 months since my last shot.

However, RFK Jr.'s senate confirmation has me wondering whether it would be prudent to get my next shot sooner. Big Pharma is powerful enough that I don't expect vaccines to be banned outright, but it wouldn't surprise me if there are changes to the rules about either how often people can get vaccinated or whether insurance has to pay for vaccines.

Also, I remember a time a while ago (1 year ago? 2 years ago?) when the existing stock of Novavax vaccines had expired, and the company wasn't making more. Does anyone know the expiration date on the Novavax shots that are currently available, and whether the company is making more?

Any information would be very welcome. Also, does anyone know whether Friesein, the X user who is legendary for disseminating information on Novavax, can be reached from the Fediverse? I would love to get Friesein's feedback on whether Novavax will still be available in the United States in March 2025 and beyond, but I'm not on X and really don't want to join a site run by Elon Musk.

for myself personally, will only take #Novavax .. so can sympathize a bit w/the anti-vax people?

vaccine shedding is the dumbest thing & altho am no fan of #mRNA think for most people blaming it is ridiculous however will concede it’s possible (likely extremely rare) to have had very negative after effects… will gander most people are having issues from chronic repeat infections

so tbh find myself in an usual place too…………

this is complete conjecture, but the Feb meeting, if it is VRBAC, usually discusses upcoming variants w/ Pfizer, Moderna & Novavax

Last year, the vaccines were pulled off the market in May as recall getting mine last day of Spring semester classes

what this seems like is no fall booster… but then again they could pull them all off the market at any point bc there’s zero stability, reliability under this regime

#novavax is personally the only Covid vaccine i will take & am not sure how the hunt for it will go…
