Droppie [infosec] 🐨♀:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird:🦘:vegan:<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mindly.social/@gregandcin" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>gregandcin</span></a></span> </p><blockquote><p>ESR is already a notch down for me </p></blockquote><p>And also <em>me</em>, btw. This fact almost stopped me even bothering to try it. Fyi, i run <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Arch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Arch</span></a>, & my long-term default browser before <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Floorp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Floorp</span></a> was :firefox_nightly:, before that was :vivaldi_gray:, ie, i like <em>"new"</em>, i don't like <em>"stale"</em>. Ofc i'd love the :floorp: Dev to rebase onto [at least] vanilla :firefox:, or better yet <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/FirefoxBeta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FirefoxBeta</span></a> [i know that using <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/FirefoxNightly" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FirefoxNightly</span></a> as base could never occur ofc]. </p><p>However, all that said, once i began testing :floorp: & kept discovering all its gems, it entranced me. Though nowadays i use & enjoy <em>numerous</em> of its extras [compared to any of the parent Foxes], i can say without any hesitation that THE stand-out feature of it, its Vivaldiesque <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/WebPanel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebPanel</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/SidePanel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SidePanel</span></a>, was what made me realise i simply <em>had</em> to adopt this great browser as my new default. </p><p>A bonus is its more recent advent of split tab view, akin to Vivaldi's tab panes of two tabs side by side. Vivaldi's paning is much more complete than Floorp's atm, but the most common pane option i used in Vivaldi was two tabs side by side, which now Floorp has, so i'm not missing out on anything important to me. </p><p>I must also mention the ongoing fundamental advantage of Floorp over Vivaldi; by being based on <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Gecko" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gecko</span></a> not <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>chromium</span></a>, i am entirely free of all the google bullshit, not least that my <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/uBlockOrigin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>uBlockOrigin</span></a> is <strong><em>not</em></strong> going to break in a few months once google complete their odious <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Mv3" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mv3</span></a> deployment by removing <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Mv2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mv2</span></a>.</p>
