La angustia vital no está demasiado representada en el cine. En otras artes, como pintura o música, diría que lo está más, incluso mejor. Por otro lado, cuando el audiovisual se anima a plasmarlo rara vez no merece la pena animarse y exponerse a la pieza.

Arrebato (1979) o Lo que esconde Silver Lake (2018) son ejemplos míticos de aciertos en esta onda, la primera deslizándose hacia lo existencial y la segunda focalizando hacia lo generacional. El cine de Cuerda y el de Lynch también nos deja buenos apuntes de sinvivires vitales.

Adaptando una novela, Escape presenta a N. (luego cambiará de nombre marcándose casi un Prince), un muchacho aparentemente muy joven todavía para estar tan mal estando tan bien.

Este punto resulta incomprensible y desubica. N. tiene obsesiones insanas, a priori parece capaz de ser independiente, y vive con su hermana, su principal ancla a la sensatez, y para alimentar sus impulsos autoboicoteadores.

Todas las dolencias no provienen del cuerpo; todo el mundo tiene un pasado; y cada persona se engaña como puede/sabe.

Cortés dirige a N. respetando que opte por caminar dentro del laberinto aun estando rodeado de puertas y ventanas. Así es como logra una película tan rebosante de política pese a parecer que nadie está a los mandos ni en el guion ni en la dirección. Vaya si lo hay. Y qué madurez y generosidad la del cineasta con su personaje.

En otra soberbia interpretación de Mario Casas (estará toda la vida con el sambenito de mal actor pese a haber encarnado a personajes de matices como Juan Castro en La mula, 2013), Escape parte de la paradoja, de salir del campo abierto y sus desestabilizadoras turbulencias para garantizarse un mínimo de paz mental que acalle a las voces internas, dentro de un caparazón, de cuatro paredes acolchadas, de un túnel.

Somos insolidarias al no entender que la gente se canse de sí misma y necesite escapar.

He is doing a lot better mentally, but that maybe out of spite. The day after he finished producing "<a href='https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/gnCypoRwAAb' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferer'><strong>Toss Back Tuesday: Jim Carrey Under 100 Minutes</strong></a>", the podcast scheduling plans were all screwed up. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" was the big Blu-Ray release for June 6, 2023. Its theatrical run was released the week prior to the April movie <a href='http://twitter.com/catbusruss' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferer'>CatBus</a> wanted to see the most, <a href='https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000115/?ref_=tt_ov_st' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferer'><strong>Nicolas Cage</strong></a> starring as Dracula in "<a href='https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11358390/' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferer'><strong>Renfield</strong></a>", so the resources our host used to find out that the physical release date of the <a href='https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0396558/?ref_=tt_ov_st' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferer'><strong>Nicholas Hoult</strong></a> film was going to be a week after the billion-dollar cartoon seemed correct. You can only imagine his dismay when he started ringing out customers who brough up the vampire disc along side the plumber flick.</p> <p>Russ did get around to seeing the movie when it was still in theaters. This would have been in its third week of release. As noted in "<a href='https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/6UEAurRwAAb' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferer'><strong>Nicolas Cage & The Unbearable Weight of Massive Filmography</strong></a>", our host ended up dealing with unexpected cancellations of this feature during its second weekend. He decided to sit on the review he recorded from the parking lot. Being the only other person in the cinema for the flick, expecting the physical release to be just a couple of weeks away seemed like a fair assumption. Sadly, Comcast/Universal seemed to do nothing but fumble in their efforts to make this feature profitable. Fortunately, "<a href='http://ninetyforchill.blogspot.com' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferer'><strong>NinetyForChill: The #Podcast</strong></a>" is going to make an effort to further make this feature relevant.</p>
