Though Bran Castle in Transylvania doesn’t lean too heavily into the Dracula mythos, it does have a rather extensive torture exhibition that you can visit for an extra fee. Here we have an interrogation seat, the throne (your feet go through the top) and the ‘Virgin of Nuremberg’.

I think I’m going to re-listen to the “Re: Dracula” #podcast from May 3 - Oct 27; hearing the reading of each letter, journal entry, news article, etc., that’s part of this epistolary novel #Dracula on the date when it occurred in the story. 1/2 Bran Castle - the castle most associated with Dracula. Largely because of tourism. There’s no evidence Bram Stoker knew anything about it. Vlad the Impaler was thought to have been held prisoner there, but that now is disputed.

The castle is on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia. To get an army through the Carpathian mountains, you would need to march your army past Bran, so Vlad likely passed by at least.
