This time of year is really difficult to be unhoused, not that it's ever easy.

This is ALL THE RESULT OF POLICY CHOICES.

Anyway, I am blessed enough to have a warm bed to go to, and I am going to try not to go to it while raging at the sheer obstinate, disgusting, selfishness that is capitalism.

*Tip: Reflectix or the generic equivalent (the kind I have to drop off is "Resisto") is very helpful in reducing conductive heat loss when sleeping on the ground.

If you find some on sale, grab a roll and help a human being out.

I need a clone.

I have been up to a LOT of behind the scenes planning work, "day job" work, and the usual community defence tasks.

It's the first in the list that is making me feel stretched so thin. I love the last bit the most, as it is what make me feel fulfilled. Like: last night was Street Knit and I got to stock up on supplies to distribute to people who are cold and in need.

Migrating to the Movement Offence Committee has shifted my "duties" to an interesting mix of spending more time in cop shops being told that cops don't want to speak to me (I thought McCormick was going to have an aneurysm when I corrected his understanding of the law) and doing/creating different trainings.

Doing an Encampment Support training shortly, which seems timely given the clearing of the camp at Clarence Square a couple of days ago. In the winter.

But hey, shitlibs "got their park back".

Anyway, that's where I have been these past few weeks.

Mild anxiety attack caused by my to-do list, dealt with.
Aid offered by amazing friends.

Tomorrow is media/messaging day, sound system retrieval. Last big issue is folding tables.

We got this.

For now, on my way to work the warm gear table at FNB, with freshly washed sleeping bag, blanket, tarp, and winter apparel from Street Knit.

Worried that the deceptively warm temps will cause people to ignore the offerings, even though it is slated to get chilly later this week.

Continued thread

And that is a wrap.
Done until next month.

The sun setting and wind picking up really increased people's interest in warm gear.

So much gently-used clothing found new people to love them.

Gave away a lot of afghans, sweaters, cowls, and hats. Still have a lot more that will be distributed directly to encampments and community service groups in the next few days.

Everyone deserves to be warm.
Everyone deserves to be safe.

👕👖🧣🧤

If you have GENTLY-USED goods that could still be cherished by someone who needs, feel free to bring it by the
👖👕 Leave an Item, Take an Item🧣🧤 table at Wednesday night's Community Food Distro event at the Doctor's Parkette on College at Brunswick.

⚠️ Please make sure all donations are WASHED and READY TO USE.

⚠️ Please be thoughtful and honest with yourself before bringing items down. We will decline unsuitable donations; this is NOT an opportunity to dispose of garbage.

We will also have new, hand-knit gear from Street Knit; outdoor sleeping supplies from the York and UofT camps; and more.

Feel free to stop by to see what we have and/or pass this info along to people who could benefit.

It turns out that the #ACABBQ is going to be a monthly thing for the next while!

🚫 🚨 🚫 🚨 🚫

Last Wednesday of the month, so
September 25th is the next one.
Doctor's Park
(there'll be artwork and deets closer to the date).

Surprise vegan hot dog aside, I enjoyed it very much. An opportunity to just chill with antifascists, not at an action, not dealing with cops, just talking.

I'd also been wanting to make a monthly thing of having people donate
➡️ ready to use ⬅️ items
for people who need them, whether that's clothing, camping gear, food, toiletries and basics the way it worked so well at the 24-hour City Hall protest last December.

So, we're going to do that at least for the next couple of months as a pilot.
The stipulation is to make sure that any clothing is WASHED and READY TO USE.
This is not an opportunity to get rid of that thing that's been sitting in the garage for the last 10 years and you haven't even looked to see whether it has been eaten by moths.

We'll also be bringing stock from Street Knit, so expect warm gear.

(At some point, Ima to pitch doing a bloc exchange and donation drive. I am me-shaped and highly visible, so I can facilitate this because no one is even going to be looking for me in bloc.)
