@starland I live in Indiana so I 100% feel your pain. Earlier this year I co-founded a pro-choice PAC to work to get more pro-choice legislators elected, but it's an uphill battle. Definitely a marathon, not a sprint--and in Indiana, gerrymandering is a huge problem. @TonyStark I don't disagree that poverty is a bonus for the GOP. But I would argue their main motivation in championing a forced birth policy is to control women--to keep us out of the work force, at home, and under their control. You're not wrong about the merits. But since there are some issues of fact and credibility, it makes sense that the judge would have wanted to hear testimony so that she can assess everyone for herself in person, rather than just relying on the words in the briefs.
